You don't have to be a runner to be a part of the festivities on race day. Volunteer for one of the many Volunteer Job Opportunities necessary to make the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon a success. Individuals who register to volunteer will receive a long-sleeve event t-shirt along with free food and drinks at the Finish Line Festival as well as free entries into prize raffles.

Below are descriptions of some of the many opportunities to volunteer for the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon:
Clothing Check In
Volunteers are responsible for checking in and checking out participant’s clothing and other items on race day.

Volunteer Check In
Volunteers will manage the check in process for all volunteers that are signed up for the Expo and/or race day. Volunteer Check In is responsible for volunteer shirt distribution and assisting in directing volunteers to their scheduled positions.
Packet Pickup and Registration
Volunteers will assist participants at the Expo with late registration, packet pick up and T-shirt distribution.
Course Monitors
Volunteers will keep the road clear of vehicles during the race. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. We ask that all course monitors attend the pre-race meeting during the Expo on Thursday, October 18, 2012 before the race. (More details to come.)
Mylar Blanket Setup and Distribution
Volunteers will hang up Mylar blankets for easy distribution to participants after the races. Volunteers will immediately distribute blankets to participants after races.
Finish Line Water Distribution
Volunteers will hand out water to race participants at the end of the races.
Finish Line Food Area
Volunteers will prepare and distribute food to race finishers. Act as security as the food is provided for the athletes only.
Recycling Team
Volunteers assist in the promotion of the green incentives of the marathon. Volunteers will be stationed at the recycle locations and assist in correctly distributing waste to the appropriate bins: compost, recycle, waste.
Finish Line Cleanup Crew
Volunteers will assist in the cleanup of any trash, clothing and other items at the conclusion of the marathon.

GRANT GROUPS: GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL GROUPS
How to become a Grant Group?
For non-profit organizations, the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Funds offers a fun volunteering opportunity. Qualifying groups of ten or more will receive $10 for every volunteer. For example, if your group has 15 members register and volunteer for the Kansas City Marathon, a donation of $150 will be made to your group.
