Volunteers


Volunteer Sign-Up:
To make the Kids' Marathon for the benefit of Children's Mercy Hospitals & Clinics a success, many volunteers are needed. Groups are encouraged to volunteer together for the event. 



Please follow these steps to become a Kids' Marathon Volunteer:


1-  View the volunteer descriptions below. 


2-  Select the position(s) that you would like to register for.

Remember there are positions available starting on Wednesday Oct.16 through Saturday, October 19, 2013!!


Volunteer Descriptions
Wednesday, Oct 16th


Location: Don Chisholm Center,
610 E 22nd st, Kansas City, MO 64108
 


Race Packet Assembly: Volunteer will put together goodie bags and other race information together for packet – pick up.


Thursday & Friday Oct. 17th & 18th
Location: Crown Center Exhibit Hall A
2323 McGee Street, Kansas City, MO 64108  


Expo Volunteer: Monitor, distribute, and explain race information as families and team coaches come to check in. 


Saturday, Oct 19th
Location: Washington Park


Race set- up: Volunteer will assist in moving tables, chairs, fencing and other items needed to set-up for Kids Zone area prior to pre-race activities.   


Start Line: You may be assigned to one of the following positions- 




Finish Line: You may be assigned to one of the following positions-  



Volunteer check- in/ Lost child: Volunteer will check in race day volunteers and direct them to appropriate area and section captain to receive further instructions. Volunteer will also house lost children and contact guardian (information on back of child’s bib number) and stay with them until reunited with guardian.  


Kids Zone Activities: Volunteers will ensure that flow of activities run smoothly and help with overflow management and site safety.  


Kids Zone Food & beverage: Volunteers will set up, hand out, and clean up food and beverage distribution race finishers.  


Race clean- up: Volunteers will ensure all vendors have packed/ cleaned up site. Volunteers will clean up trash, clothes and other items at the conclusion of the after race activities.   


Floaters: Volunteers will be assigned to any activities listed above throughout the race day event. This will be due to volunteer no-shows or overflow assistance.

I ran the half marathon last weekend and I just wanted to comment on what a great event it was. Your team really put together a first class running event. From the full marathon to the kids marathon, I can't think of anything that needed improvement.
