Waddell & Reed Kids' Marathon for the benefit of Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics

The Waddell & Reed Kids’ Marathon Presented by Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics returns, giving young runners, Kindergarten through 8th grade, a chance to complete their own mini-marathon on the day of the Kansas City Marathon. Proceeds from the Kids’ Marathon benefit Children’s Mercy.

Young runners will have all summer to train for their own mini-marathon! As part of the fun run experience, participating kids, kindergarten through eighth grade, are encouraged to “train” by tracking 25 miles on their own leading up to race day. The final 1.2 miles, which starts just north of Crown Center, will be completed on race day (10/20/12) at 11:00am.

Kid’s Activities start at 10:30am on race day, including a mascot race, group stretching, and entertainment. Also, make sure stick around after the race for the kids Zone full of fun activities and entertainment for the entire family to enjoy until 1pm!

Kids ages 5 – 15 are able to sign up in groups of 10 or more through their school/ youth sports group or can sign up as individuals with a responsible adult accompanying them!
