An International Honor for Top Local* Marathon Finishers
Home to one of the nation’s fastest-growing marathons, Kansas City also enjoys its own dynamic evolution as a sophisticated city of cultural and economic importance. Central to our socioeconomic growth is our valued sister-city relationships with other metropolitan communities around the world, including Xi’an, People’s Republic of China. As we explore new avenues for strengthening our cooperative partnership with Xi’an, sport serves a vital role for sharing mutual interests and understanding – and running is very much a part of that mix!
Your opportunity to represent Kansas City in Xi’an!
A city some seven-million strong, Xi’an is home to the Xi’an City Wall International Half Marathon, where each November more than 30,000 runners from 50-plus countries enjoy an unforgettable experience in this ancient Chinese capital. In the spirit of building upon Kansas City’s developing relationship with Xi’an, we are pleased to offer complimentary participation in the Xi’an City Wall International Half Marathon as the grand prize for the top local* male and female finishers at the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Funds. Along with guaranteed entry into the Xi’an City Wall International Marathon the following year, the top local runners (and one guest each) also receive round-trip airfare from Kansas City to Xi’an and hotel accommodations in Xi’an.
This once-in-a-lifetime award is made possible by the City of Kansas City, Missouri; the Kansas City Sports Commission; Waddell & Reed Financial Inc. and Ivy Funds; the Society for Friendship with China; and the Kansas City-Xi’an Sister City Committee.
