City Of Fountains

Who we are:

Kansas City is known for many things. We are known for BBQ (yum), being friendly to visitors and residents, also being the heart of America, which is especially easy for traveling. But one BIG thing we are known for are our wonderful designs and sculptures of fountains. We have more than 200 fountains that scatter the beautiful city that landmark historical features and events, all in their own way. Each year the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Funds selects a different fountain to highlight. Click Here to view the "Friends of the Fountains" map.

This year, our fountain is the Firefighters Memorial Fountain in rememberance of those who spare their lives for the safety of Kansas City. Kansas City is a big believer in community partnerships and what a great community partner we have this year in the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department (KCFD). For years, the KCFD have put forth effort to build relationships and maintain the best attributes for this centralized, mid-western city. We are very excited to partner with the KCFD on this year's race and build an even bigger bond with the men and women we rely on. The course is beautifully designed and takes runners by a number of historic sites and neighborhoods. The run really gives participants a sense of how distinct Kansas City is compared to other cities.
