Fundraising

The Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon is committed to our community, and a portion of the net proceeds from our event will benefit local charities. In five years the marathon has raised over $480,000 for local charities and non-profits. The most important step you can take as a Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Funds participant is to raise funds for our charity partners. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Mid-America Chapter is the main beneficiary.

The Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinic Weight Management Center, which is an organization that helps fighting childhood obesity, is our beneficiary for the Waddell & Reed Kid’s Marathon Presented by Children’s Mercy Hospitals.

With your help, we can raise thousands of dollars to help keep our children healthy and fight blood cancers.

How to start fundraising:

To become a top fundraiser, we suggest the following steps:

  1. Register – as a Run/Walk Participant or Volunteer
  2. Set a fundraising goal – (aim high – you can reach it!)
  3. Devise a plan – how to ask your family, friends, and co-workers to join you in the fight.
  4. Create your very own online fundraising page and send it to everyone you know. Raising funds online is a great way to increase your fundraising efforts – it’s just a click away!
  5. Ask, ask, ask – your list of contacts will support your efforts to help save someone’s life – but first you have to ask!

You can also collect funds in person and keep track by printing our official pledge form:
